Elevated triglycerides over time contribute to the development of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis. This hardening and clogging of the arteries can manifest as extremity numbness, ringing in the ears, and general body coldness. Chronic elevated triglycerides increase the chance of developing a heart attack or stroke.
A primary cause of elevated triglycerides is excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates and alcohol. Increased weight probably means that the triglycerides are also increasing.
Dietary do's and don'ts are included in this pamphlet.
